Arundel Cathedral was designed by Joseph Hansom for Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk, who commissioned it in 1868 as a counterpart to Arundel Castle. The text says it was dedicated as a parish church in 1873, and the infobox gives only 1868 with no end date. The article calls the style French Gothic and names no materials or dimensions.

It was listed Grade I on March 26, 1949, under its earlier dedication to St Philip Neri. It became a cathedral in 1965, when the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton was founded. It was rededicated in 1971 to Our Lady and St Philip Howard after his canonization and the reburial of his relics there.

In 2002 Elizabeth Stratford became the first woman Director of Music at an English cathedral. It holds an annual Corpus Christi floral carpet. The article gives no hours.
