The Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton was redeveloped from 2007 to 2010 to a design by Randall Stout of Los Angeles. HIP Architects and Stantec assisted. The original 1969 building was by Donald G. Bittorf and B. James Wensley, and the article calls it Brutalist. It names no client, and gives no style for the new work. Construction formally began in June 2007, and it reopened on January 31, 2010.

The building covers 86,000 square feet (8,000 m2), including over 3,000 square meters of climate-controlled gallery space. The exterior is patinated zinc and stainless steel, with a 620-foot (190 m) steel ribbon meant to evoke the North Saskatchewan River and the aurora. About 67 percent of the older structure was kept.

The budget rose from CA$48 million to CA$88 million. Admission is free for minors and post-secondary students. The article gives no hours.
