The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami was designed by César Pelli, with Ove Arup & Partners as structural engineer and Russell Johnson of Artec as acoustician. Miami-Dade County owns it. Ground was broken on October 15, 2001, and it opened on October 5, 2006, as the Carnival Center. It was renamed in 2008 after a $30 million gift from Adrienne Arsht. The cost was $472 million.
The complex sits on two sites straddling Biscayne Boulevard, joined by a pedestrian bridge. It holds the 2,400-seat Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall and the Carnival Studio Theater. The preserved seven-story Sears tower of 1929, which the article calls Art Deco, is part of the complex.
Resident companies include Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and the New World Symphony. The article gives no hours or ticket prices.
