Arras Cathedral occupies the former abbey church of St. Vaast, designed by Pierre Contant d'Ivry according to 1755 plans. Cardinal de Rohan, the former abbot, chose the design. The article names no client. The text says rebuilding began in 1750 but also that erection began in 1755. The infobox gives consecration in 1833, and the text says completion in 1834.
The infobox lists Gothic and Classical, and the text calls the current building neoclassical. The post-Revolution work used plaster-coated brickwork, undressed stone columns covered in stone-colored mortar and stucco capitals, limited to solidity and decency.
The earlier Gothic cathedral was built from 1030 to 1396, sold in 1799 and demolished about 1802. The abbey church became the cathedral in 1804. Shelling in April 1917 caused heavy damage, and it was rebuilt in its previous form. It has a Cortot marble Virgin donated by Louis XVIII. The article gives no hours.
