ARKEN Museum of Modern Art in Ishøj was designed by Søren Robert Lund, winner of the 1988 competition. C.F. Møller Architects co-designed later renovations and extensions. A state-authorised private non-profit charity owns it, authorised by Copenhagen County and conceived by Queen Margrethe. The infobox and text agree on inauguration on March 15, 1996.

The article describes the style as Deconstructivist and nautically inspired, with a fragmented ship form and slanted angles. It has grey and red walls. The 2009 hall has four white quadrants, with air-conditioning recessed into the walls.

The total area is 5,000 square meters, with 1,600 for exhibitions. The extensions added about 1,100 square meters, roughly 50 percent more gallery space. The text says the museum reopened in January 2008 and also on September 5, 2009, and does not reconcile them. The article gives no hours or prices.
