The Architecture Building stands at 608 East Lorado Taft Drive on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign. Charles Platt designed it, and it was completed in 1926. The university's design history calls the style Georgian and says Platt chose it to bring coherence to the campus. The plan is T-shaped, and the composition follows a Palladian strategy.
Red brick walls have limestone window detailing and painted trim, with a stone ribbon between the first and second floors. Above the main entrance an engraved stone reads Architecture and Kindred Subjects. Two columns and matching pilasters mark the hallway intersection.
The building forms a composition with David Kinley Hall and Wohlers Hall. Today it houses junior and senior studios and the Temple Hoyne Buell Architecture Gallery, which hosts large undergraduate reviews, exhibits and college-wide lectures.
