Aosta Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and Saint John the Baptist, is the seat of the Diocese of Aosta in northwestern Italy. The text dates the first building to the fourth century. An eleventh-century rebuild replaced the Palaeo-Christian structure, and the infobox gives its consecration as 1025. Further changes were made in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
The present Neoclassical facade was built between 1846 and 1848. It frames a sixteenth-century Renaissance portal with statues and frescoes depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary.
The cathedral has two Romanesque clock towers and a Romanesque crypt. Part of an Ottonian fresco cycle survives on the ceiling. It is a Roman Catholic church and remains active today.
