The Amorepacific Headquarters stands at Hangang-ro 100 in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. David Chipperfield Architects designed it, with Christoph Felger as design lead, and the project ran from 2010 to 2017. The client is Amorepacific Corporation, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction was the general contractor.
The building is a single clear volume 110 meters (361 feet) tall, with 23 floors above ground and 7 below. Its gross floor area is 216,000 square meters. It is wrapped in matte-white aluminum fins in two layers, and it is turned 45 degrees to the cardinal points to limit solar heat gain.
The volume is built around a central courtyard raised above a public atrium. Three large openings called hanging gardens connect the courtyard to the outside. Public amenities include a museum, a library, a 450-seat auditorium and childcare. Rainwater harvesting and ground-source energy are part of the design.
