The Alte Pinakothek in Munich's Kunstareal was designed by Leo von Klenze after King Ludwig I of Bavaria ordered it in 1826. Construction ran from 1826 to 1836. The article describes the exterior as Neo-Renaissance. The building is 492 feet (150 m) long, 164 feet (50 m) wide and 82 feet (25 m) high.
It was built of yellow polished brick over masonry more than 3 feet (1 m) thick. Air heating damaged paintings in 1841, and a new heating system followed in 1891. Bombing in 1943 and 1944 wrecked it. Hans Döllgast led the reconstruction from 1952, and the museum reopened on June 7, 1957.
The article says the interior was fully rebuilt in November 1963. Renovations took place in 1994 to 1998, 2008 to 2009 and 2014 to 2015. It shows Old Masters paintings, and all exhibition rooms have been open again since July 2018. The article gives no hours or ticket prices.
