The Akita Museum of Art in Akita was designed by Tadao Ando. The original museum opened on May 5, 1967, and the new building opened on September 28, 2013. The article names no client or style, but it describes the building as triangular.

It has three floors above ground and one below, with 3,746.66 square meters of floor area. The entrance has a free-standing staircase and a triangular skylight. Glass panels on the second floor overlook Senshu Park, the former site of Akita Castle. Two galleries host rotating exhibitions.

The main exhibit shows works by Tsuguharu Foujita, and the main collection comes from the Masakichi Hirano Art Foundation. The paid area begins on the second floor, while the café and museum shop are free to enter. The article gives no hours or ticket prices.
