The Adler Planetarium in Chicago was designed by Ernest Grunsfeld Jr. Max Adler, a former Sears executive, founded the planetarium. The infobox lists 1930 as the build year. The text says Adler funded the project in 1928 and the planetarium opened on May 12, 1930.

The article calls the style Art Deco and names no materials. The dome of the Grainger Sky Theater is 69 feet (21 m) in diameter.

A refurbishment came in 1967, an underground expansion in 1973 and a renovation in 1991. The Sky Pavilion was added in 1999, the Grainger Sky Theater opened in 2011 and the Doane Observatory was upgraded in 2015. It is a municipal astronomy museum run by the Chicago Park District, with planetarium theaters and exhibits. The article gives no hours.
