53 West 53 in Midtown Manhattan sits beside the Museum of Modern Art and was designed by Jean Nouvel, with AAI Architects as architect of record. Hines, Pontiac Land Group and Goldman Sachs were developers. The article calls the style postmodern. Work began in late 2014, and construction was completed in February 2020.

The roof stands 1,050 feet (320 m) high. It has 77 physical stories, though the top is numbered 87. A concrete diagrid and a triple-glazed curtain wall define the exterior, with five spires on top. It holds 145 condominiums and about 750,000 square feet of floor area.

MoMA galleries occupy floors 2, 4 and 5, and residents have about 30,000 square feet of amenities, including a pool and wine room. A tuned mass damper steadies the tower. The units are privately owned.
