50 West Street in Lower Manhattan's Financial District is a residential tower designed by Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn Architects. Time Equities Inc. developed it, DeSimone Consulting Engineers handled structure, and Hunter Roberts Construction built it. Groundbreaking was on June 23, 2008, and work paused in the financial crisis for about five years. Occupancy began in 2017 and the tower was completed in 2018. The article names no style but calls it a curved-glass tower.
It stands 778 ft (237 m) tall with 64 or 65 floors, depending on the article's passage. The facade uses about 3,000 glass panels, about 500 of them curved, braced with stainless steel panels from Italy. It holds 191 units plus two penthouses, a private observatory on the 64th floor, and four floors of amenities.
The cost was $600 million. Design changes after Hurricane Sandy made it flood-resistant.
