40 Bank Street stands at Heron Quays in Canary Wharf, overlooking the London Docklands. Cesar Pelli & Associates designed it, with Adamson Associates as executive architect. Canary Wharf Group is the developer, but the article names no owner. Construction began in 2000 and finished in 2003. The article describes the style as modernism, in contrast to the International Style of nearby 25 Bank Street.

The tower is 502 feet (153 m) tall, with 30 floors and 634,000 square feet of floor area. The facade combines light-colored stone with glass curtain walls made by Permasteelisa, and the windows are slightly recessed. A glass section runs along the side and top, and the building is designed to look like two fused buildings.

Glass winter gardens connect it to 25 and 50 Bank Street and to the Jubilee Place underground mall. The lobby was renovated in 2020–2023.
