1855 Broadway is a 12-story building on Broadway in Manhattan that served as the main home of the NYIT School of Architecture and Design in the 2019 NAAB visiting-team report. LandmarkWest describes a glass, masonry and steel facade and lists the building as built in 1905 and altered in 1966.
The report counted 15,600 square feet (about 1,450 square meters) dedicated to the school. It included administrative offices, labs, exhibit space, faculty and student-organization offices, and the fabrication lab. The graduate studio classroom sat on various floors.
The visiting team called the space tight. NYIT then planned to sell the building, in a sale it expected to bring $90 million, and to move the school to about 50,000 square feet in Long Island City in 2021.
