120 Collins Street in Melbourne was designed by Hassell in association with Daryl Jackson, with Connell Wagner as structural engineer and Grocon as main contractor. Construction started in 1989 and finished in 1991. The text calls the style postmodern, drawing on New York Art Deco such as the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. It has a granite facade, setbacks and a central mast.
The spire reaches 869 feet (265 m). The roof height is 728 feet (222 m) in the infobox and 720 feet (220 m) in the text, with a 148-foot (45 m) spire. The infobox gives 52 floors, while the text says 50 office levels plus four plant levels. The floor area is 700,000 square feet (65,000 m²).
It was the tallest building in Australia for 14 years, until Q1 surpassed it in 2005, and the tallest in Melbourne until Eureka Tower in 2006. It is an office building.
