Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designed the tower for Greenland Group, with Thornton Tomasetti as structural engineer. The original design was 636 m (about 2,087 feet) with 126 floors. A redesign cut it to 1,562 feet (476 m) and 101 floors above ground, and construction stalled in mid-2017.

Start dates conflict: the infobox gives June 28, 2012, a timeline gives a groundbreaking on December 8, 2010, and the text says 2012. The structure topped out on January 28, 2019, and the podium mall opened on November 16, 2019. The infobox gives completion as 2022.

The composite tower has six floors below ground, 84 elevators and about 3.26 million square feet (303,275 m²) of floor area. Hotel rooms occupy the top floors, offices the middle and a mall the podium. The article gives the cost as 4.5 billion US dollars.
