Pei Cobb Freed designed the tower, with the text crediting Henry N. Cobb, for the developer Inmobiliaria Espacio, and OHL built it. Construction started in 2004, it topped out on March 19, 2007 and was completed in 2008. It was first called Torre Espacio and was renamed Torre Emperador Castellana in 2021.

The roof height is 750 feet (230 m). The floor count conflicts, with 51 in the infobox and 57 in the text. It has 27 elevators, a gym, two restaurants and a chapel on the 33rd floor. A fire on the 43rd floor on September 4, 2006, during construction, caused no critical structural damage, according to the article.

Embassies including the British and Canadian have been tenants. Grupo Emperador, owned by Andrew Tan, bought the tower in November 2015 for 558 million euros. The article names no style or structural system.
