Bernard Meretyn designed the cathedral, which the article calls Baroque-rococo and says reflects both Western influences and Ukrainian church-building traditions. Metropolitan Athanasius Szeptycki began construction and Leo Szeptycki finished it. The infobox and introduction give 1744 to 1760, while the history section says 1746 to 1762.
It stands on a hill overlooking Lviv, with a belfry, the Baroque Metropolitan Palace and chapter house, and a garden enclosed behind two gates. The sculptor Johann Georg Pinsel made a statue of St. George the Dragon-slayer for the attic, along with stone figures of Pope St. Leo and St. Athanasius over the portal.
A church has stood on the site since around 1280. After the earlier church was destroyed in 1340, a four-column Byzantine basilica was built. The article gives no dimensions, building materials or visitor information.
