The cathedral grew from the church of Sarlat Abbey, whose abbot became the diocese's first bishop. The article names no architect, client, style, dimensions or materials. It dates the belfry to the 9th century. The infobox gives a 14th-century start and a 17th-century finish, while the text says rebuilding began in 1504 and ended in the 1680s. The article does not reconcile the phases.

It is dedicated to Saint Sacerdos of Limoges. The Concordat of 1801 abolished the diocese, and its territory passed to Périgueux. The opening text calls it a former cathedral, while the infobox still lists it as a cathedral.

The article says it is a national monument and an active Roman Catholic church. It gives no owner and no visiting details.
