Pope Urban VIII blessed the first stone on October 4, 1626, and his brother, the Capuchin Cardinal Antonio Marcello Barberini, began construction. Felice Antonio Casoni and Michele da Bergamo were the architects. The first Mass was held on September 8, 1630, and construction was completed in 1631. The article names no style. The facade is brick with white stone pilasters, and the high altar is marble. The church has a single nave with ten side chapels and a barrel vault with an Assumption by Liborio Coccetti. It gives no dimensions.
Guido Reni's St. Michael, finished in 1636, was commissioned by Antonio Barberini. In 1631 he ordered the friars' remains moved to the crypt, which the article says once rivaled the Catacombs.
It is a church of the Capuchin Franciscans, and the adjoining convent houses a museum.
