Paul Abadie rebuilt most of the structure from 1852 to 1895, leaving only the bell tower and crypts of the earlier work.
The plan is a Greek cross, and the text says it was designed on the model of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice. The infobox lists Romanesque. Abadie redesigned the five domes to be one size and symmetrical. The article gives no overall dimensions or materials.
It is a Catholic cathedral, classified as a monument historique since 1840. It belongs to the Routes of Santiago de Compostela UNESCO site, and the domes are not open to the public.
