Lew Sapieha built the original castle, completed in 1602. Forces of Michał Serwacy Wiśniowiecki destroyed the Sapieha residence in 1700. In the 1770s Aleksander Michał Sapieha commissioned a rebuild by Jan Samuel Becker of Saxony, who set it in an English-style park. The article calls it a neoclassical residence. It gives no dimensions or materials, and calls the building both a palace and a castle.
A theater was built from 1784 to 1788, although work on the palace had been suspended by 1784. The compound was sold in 1834 for a textile mill. Workers accidentally started a fire in 1914, and a partial restoration in 1930 was ruined again in the Second World War.
The article describes systematic reconstruction, with the ornate gate and entry building restored. It gives no visitor details.
