Construction of the mosque began in 1997 and finished in 1999, about two years later. The article names no architect or client. Its infobox lists the cost as 250 million ringgit. The article lists the style as Islamic, modern, Mamluk in its arch and Moorish.

The building is best known for its pink dome, whose patterned surface uses pink and white granite tiles. Rose-tinted granite is the main building material. The article lists nine domes, with an outer dome height of 160 feet (50 m), and a single minaret 381 feet (116 m) tall. The mosque holds 15,000 worshippers at one time.

It has three functional areas: the prayer hall, the sahn courtyard, and rooms for learning and functions. The article gives no visitor hours or dress code.
