The Poznań Fara, a minor basilica on Gołębia Street in the Old Town, was built from 1651 to 1701. Tomasz Poncino directed the work at first, until 1652, and the Swedish Deluge halted it from 1655 to 1660. Bartłomiej Nataniel Wąsowski is traditionally credited with the design, with Giovanni Catenazzi and Pompeo Ferrari also named. The church was consecrated in 1705 while still incomplete, and Ferrari remodeled the main entrance and interior from 1727 to 1732.

It is Baroque, with Roman elements such as monumental Corinthian columns inside. It is 180 feet (55 meters) long, with a nave 89 feet (27 meters) high. Ferrari's main altar stands about 56 feet (17 meters) tall, and Friedrich Ladegast installed an organ in 1876.

The Jesuits took over the site in 1570. Pope Benedict XVI raised it to minor basilica status on June 17, 2010.
