The oldest cathedral was demolished in 924 during Abd-al-Rahman III's invasion, and a church was rebuilt under Sancho III (1004 to 1035). A Romanesque cathedral was built from 1100 to 1127, but it collapsed in 1391 with only the facade remaining. The current Gothic church was built from 1394 to 1501, and the article names no architect for it or the cloister.

The plan is cruciform with an ambulatory, a central nave and four shorter aisles, covered by partially polychromed rib vaults and strongly influenced by French models. Ventura Rodríguez designed the Neoclassical facade in 1783. The Gothic cloister gives access to the Barbazan chapel and the refectory. The choir stalls are Renaissance, from 1541.

The infobox lists Neoclassical, Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque and Renaissance styles. Excavations in 1994 revealed streets and buildings of the 1st century BC. The article gives no dimensions, towers or visiting information.
