Josep Oller founded the music hall, which opened on April 12, 1893 on the site of his 1888 roller coaster. Léon Carle supervised the steel structure, and Charles Toché, Marcel Jambon and Etienne Cornellier did the decoration. Baccarat made the chandeliers. Capacity was about 2,000.

A 1930 conversion to a cinema added a neon facade 39 feet (12 m) high and 26 feet (8 m) wide, with about 1,300 feet (400 m) of neon tubes. A 1938 renovation added a streamlined steel fairing inspired by a ship's bow. Further renovations came in 1954, 1956, 1979 and 2019.

In spring 1997 the building was demolished and rebuilt in seven months, about 26 feet (8 m) below its previous position. The article says both that the entire edifice was demolished and that the facade and interior were preserved. The infobox gives 1,985 seats and 2,824 for concerts, a figure the body does not support.
