Olesko Castle stands on a hill about 164 feet (50 m) high in Lviv Oblast, about 47 miles (75 km) from Lviv, with an oval plan ringed by a moat and wall. The article names no builder. The earliest record is a 1390 papal document, while the infobox dates construction to the 15th to 17th centuries.
Jan Daniłowicz bought it in 1605, and the Koniecpolski family later owned it. Jan III Sobieski bought it in 1682 for 400,000 zlotys and renovated it. The Rzewuski family acquired it in the early 18th century. It was remodeled in the Italian Renaissance style.
An earthquake in 1838 partly destroyed it, and both world wars damaged it. It was restored in 1892 and again from 1961 to 1985. It is open as a museum of 16th and 17th century furnishings and art.
