Charles Hadife, an architect based in Beirut, designed the mosque. Construction began in March 2005, and the infobox gives 2008 as the established date. The article describes it as a gift under an agreement between President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan and Emir Hamad bin Khalifa of Qatar.

It is built of glass, concrete, granite and alucobond. The article gives the main height as 131 feet (40 m), which it says symbolizes the age of Muhammad at the revelations, but it does not clearly say whether this is the main structure or the dome. It gives four minarets, each 207 feet (63 m) tall.

The infobox lists a capacity of 5,000, while the article says 5,000 inside and 2,000 outside, which conflicts. The Spiritual Association of Muslims of Kazakhstan administers it. The article does not describe the interior and gives no visiting details.
