Michael's Gate is the only surviving medieval city gate in Bratislava. The article dates it to about 1300, though it also says the 14th century and the end of the 13th. The first written record is from 1411. The tower was razed from 1529 to 1534 and rebuilt in its present form from 1753 to 1758, with a statue of St. Michael and the Dragon on top. The article names no builder or architect.

It stands 167 feet (51 m) tall. Nineteen Hungarian kings were crowned in Bratislava from 1563 to 1830, and their processions stopped at the gate. There each new king swore an oath to the archbishop.

It houses the weapons exhibition of the Bratislava City Museum. A sixth-floor balcony offers views.
