Schweger + Partner designed the tower. Construction started on October 18, 1996 and finished in March 1999. The first tenants moved in on November 5, 1999, and the official inauguration was on January 28, 2000. The cost was 700 million Deutsche Mark.
It combines two connected towers, a smaller cuboid one and a taller circular one with a blue glass exterior. The roof is 656 feet (200 m) high, and the antenna spire takes the total to 787 feet (240 m). The infobox reads "56 5 below ground," and the text calls it a 56-story tower with five underground floors.
Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen is headquartered here, and other tenants include Merrill Lynch and Standard & Poor's. It has two public viewing platforms and is the only Frankfurt skyscraper with a public observatory. NorthStar Realty Finance agreed to buy it in 2015 for about 540 million euros.
