Sultan Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alamsyah built the Maimun Palace in Medan, North Sumatra. The Dutch engineer A. P. Melchior was the architect. Work began in 1887, and the text gives 1887 to 1891 while the infobox gives completion as 1892. The article says the design combines Malay cultural heritage with Islamic and Indian architecture, and the furniture and fittings are Spanish and Italian.
The palace has 30 rooms and a floor area of 2,772 square meters, about 29,800 square feet. A cannon called the Meriam Puntung is believed to have been used by the Deli Sultanate to defeat the Aru Kingdom. The name comes from an Arabic word meaning blessing.
The article describes it as the last surviving Malay palace. It avoided destruction during the East Sumatra revolution because British troops protected it. The Deli Sultanate owns it, and it is a museum.
