Stanisław Lubomirski acquired the property in 1629. The infobox gives construction from 1629 to 1642, while the text says the castle was erected in 1642 and also mentions a 16th-century origin. Maciej Trapola designed the quadrilateral castle with corner towers. Krzysztof Mieroszewski's role is only presumed. A fire in 1688 was followed by a restoration by Tylman van Gameren, who added bulbous cupolas to the side towers. The style is Baroque, with a later neo-Baroque facade.

Izabela Lubomirska transformed it into a palace in the late 18th century, and the Potocki family inherited it in 1816. The park covers about 31 hectares. Over 100 historic carriages are kept there.

It is a museum, a national Historic Monument since September 1, 2005, and hosts an annual classical music festival.
