Henri Guibout, Serge Maloletenkov and Yves Betin were selected for the study of the adjacent convention center, and the hotel opened in 1974 as the Hôtel Concorde La Fayette. The article does not name a client for the hotel. In 1960 the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie and the Tourism Committee decided to build a convention center on the site, with a large luxury hotel alongside.

The roof stands at 449 feet (137 m), and an antenna spire takes the total to 620 feet (190 m). It has 995 rooms and suites, on 33 floors in the infobox and 34 in the text. The article names no style or materials.

Starwood Capital sold it in 2013 to Constellation Hotel Holdings, linked to Qatar Holding, and Hyatt renamed it that April. It is the second-largest hotel in Paris and part of the Palais des Congrès.
