The Dominican order bought the site in 1669 and moved in the next year. Giorgio Massari designed the church after Andrea Musato, first engaged, died in 1721. His model was accepted in 1724. The introduction says construction began in 1725, while the body gives May 17, 1726 for the first stone. The church was consecrated on September 29, 1743, and the last sculpture was finished in 1755. The article describes a classical exterior with a Rococo interior. The facade draws on Palladio's San Giorgio Maggiore, and the interior on his Il Redentore.
The facade has giant Corinthian pilasters and rests on 270 piles driven into the soil. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo painted the ceiling frescoes, contracted in 1737 and finished by 1739.
It is still an active Roman Catholic church. The article gives no heritage status.
