Wooden fortifications on the hill are credited to Gediminas, Grand Duke of Lithuania, who lived from about 1275 to 1341, while the infobox gives about the 13th century. Grand Duke Vytautas completed the first brick castle in 1409. The Polish architect Jan Borowski rebuilt the tower in 1933, which the infobox calls a restoration.
The tower is three stories tall and made of brick. Only the infobox names the style, Brick Gothic. The article gives no other dimensions.
The hill can be reached on foot or by the Gediminas Hill Lift. The tower has a viewing platform over Vilnius Old Town and a museum of archaeological finds with castle models. The Royal Palace reconstruction, completed in 2009, is separate from the tower.
