Josep Lluís Sert, a close friend of Joan Miró, designed the building on Montjuïc. Miró formed the foundation with his friend Joan Prats, and the idea dates to 1968. The foundation opened on June 10, 1975. The article gives no construction start, client, dimensions, materials or style.

It describes courtyards and terraces, with a natural path for visitors through the building. A 1986 expansion added an auditorium and a library, and the library holds part of the 10,000 items in the foundation's and Miró's collections.

It is a modern art museum honoring Miró's life and work. The article gives no ticket prices or opening hours, and it does not name the owner.
