Bregman + Hamann Architects and Edward Durell Stone & Associates designed the tower for Olympia & York, with EllisDon as contractor. The body text calls Stone a design consultant, while the infobox lists him as an architect. It was completed in 1975 and was the tallest building in Canada until June 2025, when The One surpassed it.

The architectural height is 978 feet (298.1 m), with 72 floors including four below ground. It was clad in about 45,000 panels of Carrara marble, the same material as Stone's Aon Center in Chicago, which has a near-identical design. A panel was dislodged in a 2007 storm.

The marble was replaced with glass panels between 2009 and 2012 at a cost of over CA$100 million. The tower connects to the underground PATH system and has about 120 stores below. The infobox lists 61 elevators, and the text 29.
