Dunluce Castle is a medieval castle on a basalt outcrop, reached by a bridge from the mainland. Richard Óg de Burgh, 2nd Earl of Ulster, built the first castle in the 13th century. The McQuillans later built the two drum towers on the eastern side, each about 30 feet (9 m) in diameter, and the infobox credits them with the current castle. The article names no architects.

Sorley Boy MacDonnell took the castle in 1584 and improved it in the Scottish style. Cannons from the Spanish galleass Girona were installed in the gatehouses after it wrecked nearby. The adjacent town of Dunluce was razed in 1641.

The castle was abandoned after the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, and later parts were scavenged. It is a ruin in state care and is open to the public.
