Humprecht Jan Czernin bought part of the debt-laden Lobkowicz property in 1666. It included a central Prague building plot with gardens. In 1668 he commissioned the Swiss-Italian architect Francesco Caratti to design a palace on the land.
The builders Gione Decapaoli and Abraham Leuthner started construction in 1669. Two whole streets were demolished to make room for the building. A Rough Guide citation in the article calls it the largest palace in Prague and describes it as a pretty brutal building.
Giovanni Maderna and Giovanni Battista Cometa were first assigned the stucco work. In 1674 Francesco Peri and Antonio Travelli replaced them. The article says the palace features stuccos by Italian artists. It gives no materials or dimensions.
