Jean-Paul Viguier designed Cœur Défense, completed in 2001 in La Défense, west of Paris, to replace the former Esso Tower. The article does not name a firm or a style.
It consists of two main bodies, each 161 meters (528 feet) tall and 79 feet (24 m) wide, joined by a smaller body. They sit on a wide base of smaller bodies. The two are offset from each other so that sunlight reaches all parts of the building. It has 40 floors and 3.77 million square feet (350,000 m²) of floor space, which the article says is the most of any building in Europe, shared with the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.
The cladding is white, with large windows and rounded edges, and an electronic system raises and lowers the white blinds together. Lehman Brothers agreed a 2.1 billion euro purchase, but the article does not confirm it was completed. Current ownership is not established.
