The Chuvash State Opera and Ballet Theater is in Cheboksary, Chuvashia. The theater opened on May 22, 1960, with an opera by F. Vasilev, Water Mill. Boris Markov was its founder and first director. It was originally called the Chuvash Musical Theater and received its current name in 1993.

The article describes the current building as Brutalist, designed by R. Begunts and V. Teneta and completed in 1985.

The theater hosts several recurring events. The International Opera Festival named after Maxim Mikhailov has run since 1991, and an International Ballet Festival was organized in 1997. An International Competition of Young Opera Singers, also named for Mikhailov, was first held in 2010, as was a Festival of Operetta.
