Alexander I Jagiellon initiated the church, which was built from about 1495 to 1500. The infobox names Michael Enkinger, while the text attributes the design to Enkinger or Benedikt Rejt, and no written source confirms either. An earlier wooden church burned in 1419.
The building is red brick made from 33 different kinds of brick. The infobox gives Late Gothic and Brick Gothic, and the text says Flamboyant. The main facade is Flamboyant Gothic, while the interior and altar are Baroque. It has one nave and two towers.
The Radziwiłł family funded a reconstruction after a severe fire in 1582. A renovation from 1902 to 1909 uncovered side arches and reinforced the walls with iron. The roof was replaced in 2009. It is part of the Vilnius Old Town UNESCO site, and the article gives no hours.
