TFP Farrells produced the concept for the land bid, and Kohn Pedersen Fox took over after CITIC Real Estate won it, completing a 14-month design process. The infobox also lists BIAD as architect of record. Arup was the structural engineer, and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau built it.

Groundbreaking was on September 19, 2011, and construction started on May 15, 2012. The tower topped out on August 18, 2017 and was completed in September 2018, or late 2018 in the text. It is 1,731 feet (527.7 m) high with 109 floors above ground and eight below.

The developers say the form is inspired by the zun, an ancient Chinese wine vessel. The text describes offices, apartments and a 300-room hotel, while the floor table lists an observation deck on floors 105 to 107. It gives no admission rules.
