Jean Bourré, Finance Minister and principal adviser to King Louis XI, built the Château du Plessis-Bourré from 1468 to 1472. The article says it was built in less than five years. It stands in Écuillé, in the Loire Valley, and its exterior has not been altered since construction. It keeps a working drawbridge. The article names no architect and does not describe style or materials.
Henry Vaïsse bought it in 1911 and bequeathed it in 1956 to his nephew, François Reille-Soult, Duke of Dalmatie. Bruno and Antoinette de Ferrières de Sauvebœuf renovated and maintained it from 1978 to 2009. Since 2010, descendants of the Reille-Soult family have occupied it.
It is a private family residence and a film location, including for Peau d'Âne. It was classified a monument historique in 1931.
