The consortium Cheer City Properties, owned equally by Sun Hung Kai Properties and Sino Land, developed the tower on land reclaimed from Victoria Harbour. Dennis Lau & Ng Chun Man designed it, with Arup as structural engineer. The topping-out ceremony was on April 9, 1992, and it was completed in August 1992.
The infobox gives 1,227 feet (373.9 m) architectural height, 1,014 feet (309 m) to the roof and 981 feet (299 m) to the top floor. The text gives a free-standing tower of 1,207 feet (368 m) and a 335-foot (102 m) mast. It has 78 stories, including three below ground, on a triangular plan with truncated corners.
The structure is reinforced concrete, chosen over an original steel scheme, and the article says this saved 230 million Hong Kong dollars. The podium is a public thoroughfare linking pedestrian bridges to the MTR.
