The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception stands at 16 Caine Road in the Mid-Levels of Hong Kong Island and is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. Crawley and Company of London designed it in the English Gothic Revival style on a Latin cross plan. The cornerstone was laid on December 8, 1883, and the church opened on December 7, 1888. A fire had destroyed the earlier church on Wellington Street in 1859.
It is about 269 feet (82 meters) long and 131 feet (40 meters) wide, with a central tower rising about 111 feet (33.7 meters). The walls are brick and stone on a granite base.
A Japanese shell damaged it in 1941. A concrete roof replaced the timber one in 1952 after termite damage. It is a Grade I historic building.
