The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit stands in the southwestern corner of Velké Square in Hradec Králové. It is a Late Gothic brick basilica with three naves and two towers, about 184 feet (56 meters) long, 82 feet (25 meters) wide and 157 feet (48 meters) high. Brick was used because sandstone was not available nearby, and white sandstone marks the portals, windows and cornices.

A fire destroyed the Teutonic parish church in 1339, and the first construction phase ran from 1339 to 1342. The church was completed in 1463, and it became a cathedral in 1664 and was later rebuilt in the Baroque style. Neo-Gothic restoration followed from 1864 to 1876.

It holds a tin baptismal font from 1406, described as the oldest in the country. The article calls it the only medieval Gothic church in the city and its suburbs.
