Former Kosovo president Ibrahim Rugova laid the foundation stone in 2005. The infobox gives groundbreaking as 2007, and the Government of Kosovo approved the building plans that year. The article names no architect, style, dimensions or materials.

The cathedral was inaugurated while still unfinished on September 5, 2010, and formally consecrated on September 5, 2017. The article does not say when construction was fully completed. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Prizren-Pristina administers it, and the diocese moved to Pristina when the building was complete.

It is described as one of the tallest buildings in the city. Some of Kosovo's largest Christmas masses are held there, with local Muslims joining the congregation. The article gives no visiting information.
