The Blue Palace in Cetinje was built between 1894 and 1895 as the residence of Crown Prince Danilo of Montenegro, then heir apparent to the throne. The article describes it as Late Empire style. It gives no architect and no dimensions.
The building served as a model for other buildings constructed for members of the Petrović-Njegoš dynasty across Montenegro. That influence marks it as an important house in the country's architectural history.
Its use has changed over time. In the interwar period of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia it housed the Cetinje Gymnasium. Under the Socialist Republic of Montenegro it became a gallery and museum. It is now the official residence of the President of Montenegro.
